Saturday Spotlight: Ben Throm, Class of 2009 🎓
Each week, we feature an MHS alum and share their journey beyond high school. This week’s Saturday Spotlight highlights Ben Throm, Class of 2009, whose passion for technology, marketing, and community involvement has shaped his career and impact on Marysville.
Blending Business and Technology
After graduating from MHS, Ben was torn between hospitality management or a career in technology. He ultimately combined both interests, earning a Bachelor of Science in Management, Marketing, and Management Information Systems from Northwest Missouri State University.
He began his career as a Web Administrator at Landoll, where he spent five years honing his skills. Today, he works as a Data Analyst at Valley Vet Supply, applying his expertise in data and technology while also running his own computer repair and marketing business—offering everything from websites and logos to social media marketing.
A Deep Commitment to Community
Beyond his career, Ben is deeply involved in the Marysville community. He serves on multiple boards, including:
🏛 Pony Express Barn and Museum
🌆 One Marysville
🎓 Marysville High School Alumni Association
He also dedicates his time to his church sound booth and serves as the Worshipful Master of Marysville Lodge #91. His leadership and involvement reflect his passion for making a difference in his hometown.
MHS Memories: Unique Experiences and Classic Pranks
One of Ben’s most memorable experiences was traveling to Dallas, TX, for Project JFK/CSI DALLAS with Mr. Quinlan. Standing on the grounds where JFK was assassinated and hearing firsthand accounts—including from a doctor who had JFK’s blood on his shirt—left a lasting impact on him.
Of course, high school wasn’t all serious. Ben and his classmates had their share of mischief in the band room, including throwing pencils at the ceiling and watching them fall at the worst possible moments—like bouncing off the bell of a tuba during rehearsal!
